On 29^th March 2022, the Muara Port Company Sdn. Bhd. (MPC) hosted its 5^th Anniversary Celebration at Cruise Ship Centre, Muara Port terminal. MPC had the honour of having the Permanent Secretary (Investment), Ministry of Finance and Economy and Member of Board of Director of Muara Port Company Sdn. Bhd., Tuan Haji Khairuddin Bin Haji Abdul Hamid as the Guest of Honour to grace the ceremony accompanied by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Zeng Caili alongside the Chief Operating Officer, Mr Fazilah Yassin and the Chief Financial Officer, Mr Lyu Guoli.  

In his speech, the Guest of Honour, Tuan Haji Khairuddin expressed great enthusiasm saying “Since its establishment and taking over the operations of Muara Container Terminal, MPC has continuously introduced enhanced performance and productivity since.  We look forward to increased efficiency through modernised containerisation, introduction of new shipping line connectivity by leveraging on Beibu’s network, and development of transhipment business so that our hinterland will no longer just be immediate region but areas much further away.”  

Mr Fazilah Yassin echoed Tuan Haji Khairuddin’s sentiment by adding “For the past 5 years, MPC has successfully increased its operational efficiency where in 2021 it was seen an increase in throughput from 106,174 teus (in 2020), to 110,431 teus, which 102.3% above target, and 86.2% almost reaching target in tonnage, at 396,448 tonnes. It is forecasted that volume will continue to increase by 2022 contributed from the Brunei Fertilizer Industries (BFI).  While vessel productivity reached 101% with vessel movement of 35.4 moves per hour.”  Moving forward, MPC has fully committed in making the objectives into reality as MPC will continuously strive to transform Muara Port into a regional shipping centre and a transit hub in the South-East Asia Region.   

The ceremony began with a video presentation of all the achievements MPC had done thus far in 2021 followed by a cake cutting ceremony and a group photo.  

Highlight of the event were the Award presentations.  45 staff received their ‘5th Years’ Service Award’ as an appreciation for their hard work and dedication to the company, and 23 recipients received the ‘Excellent Employee Award’ which was presented by MPC’s management.  This year’s ‘Best Group Award’ goes to Group D from the Operation Department which was presented by the Guest of Honour.  

MPC had hope this would enliven MPC’s Employees by giving a sense of appreciation as well as to keep the Company’s continuous effort to boost the employees’ morale and motivation.
