Chinese navy vessel docks at Muara Port
The Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) naval training ship Qi Jiguang (Hull 83), with over 476 personnel onboard, has successfully docked at Muara Port.
About 500 people greeted ship Qi Jiguang at the port, including the Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Xiao Jianguo, Royal Brunei Navy's officials, members of the Chinese Embassy staff and representatives of Chinese businesses and community organizations.
Muara Port Company (MPC) management and staff were also in attendance to welcome the ship of Qi Jiguang led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zeng Caili, Chief Operation Officer (COO) Mohd Fazilah Hj Mohd Yassin and Chief Finance Officer (CFO) Mr. Lyu Guoli.
During the visit, MPC staff were given a tour of the Qi Jiguang ship by the naval official. The staff were brief on the operational capabilities and roles played by the navy in ensuring maritime security of their nation.
In exchange for the visit, the crew of the China Navy Vessel "Qi Jiguang" had the opportunity to visit various facilities within Muara Port. The first visit was to MPC Headquarters Photo Gallery, and the cadets saw the development and achievements of MPC since its first establishment. The navy cadets were also brought to visit Muara Port's Conventional and Container Terminal, as well as MPC's subsidiary company, Muara International Fish Landing (MIFL).
The ship was open to the public and they had the opportunity to board the largest and most modernized Chinese homegrown professional training ship for two days starting from 6th June to 7th June at 9am to 10am and from 3pm to 5pm.
With naval cadets and sailors aboard, the PLAN Ship Qi Jiguang departed from a military port in Dalian on May 15 to perform cadet training and visits to Vietnam, Thailand, Brunei, and the Philippines. This is the second visit to Brunei by the naval training ship and they will be departing on June 8.
