MPC Industrial Visit Promotes Practical Learning in Port Engineering and Technology
Thursday, 29 October 2026 – Muara Port Company Sdn. Bhd. (MPC) hosted representatives from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), and participants of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) Malaysia–Brunei Outreach 2026 for an industrial visit aimed at bridging academic learning with real-world port operations.
The visit provided participants with first-hand exposure to port operations and demonstrated how engineering technologies, automation, instrumentation and digital systems support terminal efficiency and operational control. It also aimed to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and encourage knowledge exchange in engineering, technology and innovation.
Welcomed by MPC Chief Executive Officer, Mr Wei Jinfeng, and the company’s management team, the delegation attended a briefing at MPC Headquarters before visiting Muara Conventional Terminal (MCVT) to observe tally operations and Muara Container Terminal (MCT) to learn about the Terminal Operating System (TOPS) and quay crane operations.
Key outcomes included enhanced understanding of port operations, practical exposure to terminal technologies and greater awareness of how engineering concepts are applied in an industrial setting. The visit also provided a platform to explore opportunities for future collaboration between MPC and academic institutions in technical knowledge sharing and industry-relevant learning.
MPC remains committed to fostering industry–academia partnerships that support knowledge development, innovation and the future growth of Brunei’s port and logistics sector.
