
Muara Port Company and Beibu Gulf University Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Strengthen Maritime Talent Development
Tuesday, 30 June 2026. Muara Port Company Sdn. Bhd. (MPC) and Beibu Gulf University (BGU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at MPC Headquarters, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to strengthen collaboration in maritime education, research, and human capital development.
The BGU delegation, led by President Dr. Lu Heng, was welcomed by MPC Chief Executive Officer Mr. Wei Jinfeng, Chief Operating Officer Tuan Fazilah Yassin, members of the management team, and staff. The delegation visited the MPC Gallery and port terminal to gain a better understanding of the company's operations and its contribution to Brunei Darussalam's maritime and logistics sector.
The MoU was signed by Tuan Fazilah Yassin on behalf of MPC and Dr. Lu Heng on behalf of BGU, witnessed by Mr. Wei Jinfeng and Professor Zhu Fangyang, Assistant to the President and Dean of the Maritime College.
The partnership establishes a framework for cooperation in internship programmes, research, staff exchanges, and other initiatives aimed at developing future maritime professionals. Both organizations will also explore collaboration in maritime studies, logistics, engineering, business, information and communication technology, and other areas of mutual interest.
The collaboration reflects the shared commitment of MPC and BGU to advancing innovation, strengthening knowledge exchange, and developing a skilled workforce to support the evolving needs of the maritime and logistics industries.
The ceremony concluded with the exchange of commemorative gifts and a group photograph, symbolizing the start of a long-term partnership dedicated to fostering talent development and strengthening ties between industry and academia.
