Muara Port Company Sdn. Bhd. Welcomes School of Business and Economics Students for Academic Visit

Monday, 13 April 2026. Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (MPC) welcomed 23 students from the School of Business and Economics (SBE), Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), for an academic visit aimed at providing firsthand insights into the multimodal transportation of imported vehicles at MPC Headquarters.

The visit was designed to highlight the complete logistics chain from maritime arrival to inland distribution while exposing students to real-world port operations. It began with a presentation by MPC’s Marketing and Business Department, introducing the company’s role in terminal operations, customs coordination, and distribution.

Also present were representatives from the Muara Container Terminal (MCT), led by Manager Mr. Guo Yiqing and his team, alongside the visiting delegation from UBD SBE headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Mohamed Syazwan Ab Thalib.

The programme continued with a guided tour of the Muara Conventional Terminal (MCVT), where students observed vehicle handling processes, operational challenges, and safety practices. They then visited the MCVT Tally Office to gain insights into documentation, cargo monitoring, and customs integration.

The final stop was the Muara Container Terminal (MCT) Control Centre, where students observed quay crane operations and learned about digital, remote-controlled port systems.  The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts between Mr. Guo Yiqing and Dr. Mohamed Syazwan Ab Thalib, followed by a group photo session.

Overall, the visit achieved its objectives, reinforcing MPC’s commitment to academic collaboration and providing students with a comprehensive understanding of multimodal vehicle transportation and port operations in Brunei.
