Port Community Unites to Clean Muara Cemetery Area

Friday, 7th February 2024. Around 100 volunteers gathered to participate in a cleanup of the Muslim cemetery located opposite the Muara Port Company (MPC) headquarters.

This annual cleaning campaign, held in preparation for the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan, was organized with the support of the Masjid Setia Ali Takmir Committee and the Mukim Serasa Consultative Council.

The event was led by MPC Chief Operating officer, Fazilah Yassin and Yang Mulia Awang Shaminan bin Haji Abd Rahman, Head of Kapok Village, Acting Head of Serasa Mukim, Acting Head of Masjid Lama Village, Pekan Muara, Sabun & Pelumpong.   Also present were the Maritime and Port Authority of Brunei Darussalam, Masjid Setia Ali Takmir Committee, Police Marine, Brunei Fire and Rescue Department (Muara Branch), Brunei Shell Marketing (BSM), Darussalam Pilotage Services (DPS), Muara International Fish Landing (MIFL), MPC management and staff and other members of the port community.   

Tuan Imam Nasehin bin Haji Yahya, Mosque Affairs Officer, led the opening prayer, followed by Bilal Md Asrol bin Haji Abd Rashid, who recited Surah Yassin, Tahlil, and the concluding prayers to mark the end of the event.  

The Muara community has long stood united, collaborating ever since the establishment of Muara Port to create a strong, supportive network. MPC is proud to have led this community-driven initiative, in partnership with the Mukim Serasa Consultative Council and the Masjid Setia Ali Takmir Committee. This campaign not only highlights MPC’s commitment to corporate social responsibility but also emphasizes our core values. Through this event, we were able to promote volunteerism and foster a deeper sense of shared responsibility and cooperation between the port community and neighboring villages, as they come together to prepare for the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan.
