MPC Fire Drill at Muara Container Terminal

A fire drill was conducted at the Muara Container Terminal (“MCT”) on Monday, 7th May 2018 to familiarize the relevant employees with the standard operating procedure for emergency situations, which in this case was a burning prime mover located at the container yard. Relevant members of Management and teams participated in the drill including the ‘Emergency Response Team’ (“ERT”), which consists of the Gate House Team, Evacuation Team, Fire-Fighting Team, First Aid Team, and the Technician Team. The fire drill began after a briefing to all the participants involved. During the fire drill, all relevant personnel conducted their assigned tasks as instructed and once completed, a debrief session was held. This allowed the Site Commander to voice any concerns relating to the execution of the fire drill. The exercise proved to be a valuable experience to the participants as it allowed everyone to recognise areas that require further improvements and errors that must be avoided during real emergency situations.
