Visit to MPC by member of the Legislative Council
Legislative Council (LegCo) members paid a working visit to Muara Port Company Sdn Bhd (“MPC”) in Muara on Thursday, 1st November 2018. The visit allowed the LegCo members a chance to get a closer look at the facilities and operations of MPC at both the Muara Container Terminal and the Muara Conventional Terminal. The visit also provided a better understanding of MPC planned projects and issues, which may be matters raised for discussion in the upcoming Legislative Council Meeting.
The working visit began at MPC’s Headquarters, where the LegCo members were received by MPC’s Director and Senior Management team. A short introduction to MPC and Company’s operations was provided before a safety briefing was given. This was followed by a tour of the HQ, which saw the LegCo members engage with a number of MPC’s employees.
Next, the delegation was taken to the newly relocated billing centre which now provides customers with a more comfortable setting for customers wishing to settle shipment related payments.
The delegation then visited the wharf area of the Container Terminal to have a look at the layout of the terminal and the equipment utilised in container operations, primarily the quay cranes. While at the wharf the LegCo members took the opportunity to ask questions related to MPC’s contribution to the operation of Muara Port and the Company’s future plans.
To conclude, lunch was provided to the LegCo members at the Cruise Ship Centre in the Muara Conventional Terminal.
